Course 1: Alarm Management, Jennifer Anderson – TiPs, Inc.
Instructor Name: Jennifer Anderson
Utility Type: Water, Electric and gas
Course Level: Beginner
In a process control environment the alarms presented to operators are one of the most important aspects of the safety, efficiency and integrity of the system. Alarm Management increases the visibility and accountability into this critical system. It is a systematic way of identifying, rationalizing and possibly reducing the number of configured alarms. This is all in an effort to provide operators meaningful information as well as the proper amount of time to react appropriately to abnormal situations. Once an Alarm Management program has been implemented, all remaining alarms should be meaningful, specific and preemptive.
During this presentation we will examine the pillars of Alarm Management and how to get ready to implement an Alarm Management program.
Topics Covered:
Alarm Philosophy development
Alarm remediation
Rationalization and Documentation
Continuous assessment/monitoring/auditing
Management of Change
Who Should Attend?
Operations Managers, Process Control Engineers, Control Room Managers
